2020 Journey so far

May 1, 2020

Hello, 2020. What a year you’ve been! I hope you have no more challenges to throw at the world this year.
In January, you took me away from my home, to the remarkable Mexico. It was great as I was able to explore new places like the beautiful curry of Tulum, playa Del Carmen, and Ching za. Yes, I experienced the world's 3rd wonder and it is an experience I will never forget.
Mexico

In February, I went back to work. It was the same routine – care for my patients, return home, and spend time with my family.
March rolled in and I joined other nurses on the frontlines to battle the invincible yet deadly enemy; the coronavirus. I am a nurse, Nurse Jackye, and it is my duty to serve people in need. Of course, I followed the safety guidelines and kept myself protected. I also prayed to the one above, not just for myself but also for the world and for the year to get better.

April followed swiftly and I had to go back to travel nursing. While some nurses run away from travel nursing, I can’t seem to get away from it. It brings me change and I love change. I love going into the unknown and being surprised by what I find. I love the new experiences and the unpredictability that comes with it. I guess that is what living is about –having new experiences and learning new things. Anyway, I chose to stop schooling part-time and decided to start working full time. So far I’ve been pleased with this decision.
Lessons I’ve gotten from 2020
In 2020, I relived some old memories, memories from my past. While some of them were painful, I learned a lot from them. Important life lessons like; the reason I am who I am today is because I was strong enough to make it through those experiences. Reliving those memories also made me much more conscious of the present. It reminded me that I have to make the best of it.

Some disappointments that came with the year
I had plans to do a lot of traveling this year! I was supposed to holiday in Texas and then go on a trip to Bermuda and Costa Rica with my nephew. But 2020… you saw that none of those trips were possible.
However, July is yet to come and I hope to holiday in Belgium. Can you be kind enough to let me have that? I will be waiting and hoping that you do.
Looking to the future
I have so many dreams and goals I want to achieve next year. In other words, I can’t wait for 2020 to come to an end –and yes, I know we’re not even halfway through the year!
However, despite being a trying year so far 2020, there is still so much I can thank you for. So I will cling to positivity and stay grateful for the chance to see another day.
